Marketing Director (full-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will oversee the development, management and implementation of the marketing that enhances and compliments the image and programs of The Salvation Army Kroc Center.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Marketing and Advertising
  • Digital Media Strategy (Website, Social Media, Email)
  • Sponsorship Sales
  • Public and Media Relations
  • Advertising – Develop a multilateral marketing and branding plan in conjunction with the Kroc Center Leadership.
  • Sales – Obtain sponsorships that support events and programs.
  • Public Relations – Maintain established relationships with journalists and key marketing industry organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree or higher in marketing, sales, public relations or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in marketing is required.
  • Journalistic and editorial experience is required.
  • Ability write, edit and update content for marketing communications collateral such as product literature, press releases, articles for media, event invitations, direct mail, Kroc website, social media, etc.
  • Have essential proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign software.
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English with the preferred ability to also communicate in Spanish.

Youth Development Team Lead (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Youth Development Team Lead is responsible for the direct supervision of the Youth Development Krew Members, and of the well-being of children in Child Watch areas throughout the facility (Clubhouse, Hangout/Game room, Classrooms, Playground).

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provide immediate supervision to the Youth Development Krew Members in Child Watch areas.
  • Responsible for the safety, supervision and the learning environment for all children placed in Child Watch areas while parents/guardians are participating in Kroc Center activities.
  • Assist the Officer for Program Development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have at least two years of work experience working with children and infants in a child care setting.
  • Must be familiar with word processing and related software. Ability to input to, maintain (update) and understand tracking database
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English with the preferred ability to also communicate in Spanish.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be able to lift and carry 40lbs.

Worship and Youth Ministries Coordinator (full-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Worship and Youth Ministries Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination of all worship services at the Kroc Center, including the leading of praise and worship during worship services, and all Teen and Young Adult ministries. This position is a member of the Congregational Life team and serves under the direction of the Sr. Kroc Officer.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Support and lead ministries of the Kroc Church with appropriate music for various services, activities and events.
  • Identify, recruit, train, and supervise individuals to participate in worship services.
  • Young Adult Leadership Development
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead holistic ministry opportunities and events for teens and young adults.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be a Salvationist in good standing, or demonstrate a desire to become a Salvationist in good standing within 6 months.
  • Prefer Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years of professional experience in a ministry setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience which, in the sole discretion of The Salvation Army, provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to be successful in this role.
  • Proficiency with at least one musical instrument that is used in a worship band (i.e. guitar or piano), or ability to lead worship and worship band.
  • Having a working knowledge and proficiency in Audio Visual equipment used at the Kroc Center
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English. Minimum of a basic proficiency to also communicate in Spanish is preferred.
  • Must be able to work weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed, hours of operation may vary. Sunday mornings and all scheduled worship services.

Assistant Teacher – After School Literary Program (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting with the coordination and implementation of the Kroc Center’s literacy program at Brookside Elementary School. This position is a key member of the Education team and serves under the direction of the Education Manager.

Hours are Monday-Thursday from 2PM-6PM.  This is a temporary position expected to last until the beginning of March.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and coordination of the literacy program at Brookside School
  • Work with Lead Teacher in the recruitment of program participants.
  • Insure that the ultimate goal of spiritual, emotional and physical regeneration of all people in represented and infused in all programs, trainings, customer relations, and levels of operation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 + years of post high school education, elementary education preferred.
  • 1 + years experience in teacher assisting, youth development and program development.
  • Preferred certifications: First Aid, CPR, State Teaching Certificate.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Fluency in Spanish preferred.

Basketball Instructor (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Program Director, the basketball instructor will give instruction to students of all ages and ability levels in basketball. Design instructional programs, prepare lesson plans and instructional materials, present subject matter demonstrating proper techniques, and perform class management tasks. Classes begin the week of January 7.  Preferred availability:  Wednesday 5PM-7PM Thursday 10:30AM-11:30AM, Saturday 11AM-12PM.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • To provide basketball instruction that contributes to each member’s class/program goals.
  • To develop and instruct fun, energetic and highly motivational classes for all ages and skill levels.
  • Implement safety measures for classes to insure the health and safety of class participants.
  • Under the direction of the Program Director, the baseball/t-ball instructor will give instruction to students of all ages and ability levels in baseball/t-ball. Design instructional programs, prepare lesson plans and instructional materials, present subject matter demonstrating proper techniques, and perform class management tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years’ experience teaching basketball required.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must have strong people skills and the ability to speak in front of others.
  • Must be able to demonstrate various skills in the area of instruction specified.

Gym Attendant (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Gym Attendant will supervise the gym, service desk, locker rooms, hallways, participants, programs and activities and enforce necessary guidelines.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provide general supervision of the activity areas and participants
  • Maintain the cleanliness and operation of the gym equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience supervising, coaching, and working with children preferred.
  • Possess an understanding of the rules and fundamentals of indoor sports such as basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, badminton, floor hockey, indoor soccer and other programs offered in the gymnasium is preferred.
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English with the preferred ability to also communicate in Spanish.
  • Have CPR/AED/First Aid certification, or obtain within 45 days.
  • Be able to lift and carry 40lbs.
  • Must be able to be mobile for long periods of time.

Welcome Desk Lead (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Welcome Desk Lead is responsible for creating exceptional customer service experiences and for the safe and secure day-to-day operations of the RJKCCC. Responsibilities include selling and/or verifying memberships through POS system, providing information, answering all incoming calls, and answering questions about the facility, The Salvation Army and available Kroc Center programs.

HOURS:

Must be available to work between the hours of 5am-10pm, able to work weeknights, weekends and holidays as needed, hours of operation will vary.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provide great customer service to the community.
  • Perform Point of Sale (POS) transactions at the Front Desk.
  • Perform all café, membership and front desk duties.
  • Train and supervise Welcome Desk attendants along with the Welcome Desk Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED. Minimum of five years experience in working in customer service industries. Equivalent combinations of education and experience that, in the sole discretion of The Salvation Army, provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully in the position will be considered.
  • Prefer minimum of three years prior experience supervising and managing staff.
  • Must have excellent computer skills; with working experience of Microsoft Office products. Computer database application experience helpful. Ability to use new software programs with basic training.
  • The ability to read, write and communicate in English is required. The ability to also communicate in Spanish is a plus.
  • Be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.

Lifeguard I (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager, Lifeguards will monitor activities, observe and provide assistance to swimmers, prevent accidents, protect life and enforce regulations as well as control access to pools, family locker rooms, and lockers.  Provide first aid when necessary.  Assist with implementation of and teach swimming lessons and other aquatics programs.  Provide support for swim lessons, record keeping, lesson cards and lesson plans.  This position is also required to assist with general facility maintenance and cleaning duties as assigned.  Attendance at all in-service trainings required.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Considerately and patiently enforce RJKCCC rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors, and employees.  Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas and actions.  Maintain order in swimming areas.
  • Must be able to analyze situations and adopt a quick and effective course of action; maintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify any signs of danger.
  • Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning.
  • Provide first aid, rescue breathing and CPR when needed.
  • Inspect and maintain cleanliness of swimming pool areas, locker rooms, restrooms, trash cans, cleaning equipment, aquatic equipment storage areas, and other areas as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Ability to speak Spanish desired.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and split shifts.
  • Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and energetically with staff, clients, members and customers.  Ability to be self-motivated, work independently and in a team environment.  Must also have effective communication skills and engage positively with the public.
  • Must have one year experience as a lifeguard.
  • Must have one year experience teaching swim lessons.
  • Lifeguard training (must include Standard First Aid). American Red Cross certifications are required before start of employment.
  • American Red Cross CPR and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer.  AED certification highly desirable.
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification required, or ability to receive within six months.
  • American Red Cross Oxygen Administration certification highly desirable.

Server (as needed, part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:  

The server position is an as-needed, part-time position. Servers will aid with events by traying food, filling beverages, serving food and beverages, busing tables, set-up, tear-down cleanup and other similar tasks that may be needed for a successful event.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Assist with food and beverage presentation, food and beverage service, bussing, set-up, tear-down, minimal food preparation and other customer service needs.
  • Under the supervision of the Events Manager or the Kitchen Supervisor, servers interact with guests, vendors and suppliers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred experience in food service such as wait staff/server.
  • Ability to act quickly and accurately on verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Comfortable in public settings.
  • Good intuition regarding how much/little to interact with guests.
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English with the preferred ability to also communicate in Spanish.
  • Be able to lift and carry up to 40lbs.
