Assistant Day Camp Manager – Seasonal Full Time (June 1 – August 28)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Day Camp Manager will assist the Recreational Supervisor in administrative and leadership responsibilities.  In addition, the ADCM will act as a counselor when needed.  Counselors are the primary adult supervisor for a group of children during the day camp day and assist in the implementation of the day camp program.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Take leadership on field trips when the director is not present. This includes the handling of all discipline procedures, money/receipt and bus/van supervision.
  • Give direct supervision to a group of children making the safety and well being of all campers while in our care a top priority. This involves staying with your group at all times unless another staff member has relieved you for any necessary reason.
  • Follow and facilitate all day camp objectives, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Encourage participation in any and all activities appropriate to those children in your assigned group. This includes activities such as music & drama classes, Bible class, recreation class, and arts & crafts.
  • Serve as a positive role model to young children by demonstrating high standards of personal conduct.
  • Administer emergency first aid as needed.
  • Respond to and report any forms of camper misconduct (bullying, inappropriate behavior, etc).
  • Plan and implement lessons, group devotions and other activities as directed by the Recreation Supervisor.
  • Work in a cooperative manner with the other Day Camp Staff as well as other RJKCCC staff to execute daily plans and activities.
  • Supervise assigned counselors.
  • Follow and ensure adherence to Day Camp Policies and Procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Desire to work with children ages 5 – 17.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years prior experience in working with children.
  • Willingness to work as part of a ministry team with other staff members.
  • Must be able to obtain a Chauffeur License.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Ability to speak Spanish desired.
  • Before hire, must pass a thorough background check.

Art Instructor for Day Camp – Seasonal Part Time (June 1 – August 28)

Under the direction of the Day Camp Manager, Art Instructors will give instruction to students of all ages and ability levels in subject areas related to Fine Arts. Design instructional programs, prepare lesson plans and instructional materials, present subject matter demonstrating proper techniques, and perform classroom management tasks.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • To provide state of the art and relevant instruction that contributes to each member class/program goals.
  • To develop and instruct fun, energetic and highly motivational classes for all ages and skill levels.
  • Implement safety measure for classes to insure the health and safety of class participants.
  • Insure that the ultimate goal of spiritual, emotional and physical regeneration of all people in represented and infused in all programs, trainings, customer relations, and levels of operation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Appropriate prior experience teaching or working in the area of art instruction required.
  • Certification or a degree in related field or level of expertise preferred.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.

Tumbling and Gymnastics Instructor (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor and Program Director, instructor will give instruction to students of all ages and ability levels in tumbling and gymnastics.  Design instructional programs, prepare lesson plans and instructional materials, present subject matter demonstrating proper techniques, and perform classroom management tasks.  Instructor will teach the following classes: Toddler Tumbling, Tumbling, Intro to Gymnastics, and Cheerleading.

  • To provide state of the art and relevant instruction that contributes to each member class/program goals.
  • To develop and instruct fun, energetic and highly motivational classes for all ages and skill levels.
  • Implement safety measure for classes to insure the health and safety of class participants.
  • Ensure that the ultimate goal of spiritual, emotional and physical regeneration of all people in represented and infused in all programs, trainings, customer relations, and levels of operation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Appropriate prior experience teaching or working in the area of instruction specified; required. Experience requirement will vary depending on the class.
  • Certification or a degree in related field or level of expertise required.
  • Where applicable, must have up to date personal insurance prior to employment.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and abilities.
  • Must be able to function effectively with minimal or no supervision.
  • Must be able to demonstrate various skills in the area of instruction specified.

 Youth Soccer Instructor (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Program Director, the youth soccer instructor will give instruction to students of all ages and ability levels in soccer. Design instructional programs, prepare lesson plans and instructional materials, present subject matter demonstrating proper techniques, and perform class management tasks. Classes begin the week of January 7.  Preferred availability: Wednesday 10:30AM-11:30AM, Thursday 5PM-7PM, Saturday 10AM-11AM

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • To provide soccer instruction that contributes to each participant’s class/program goals.
  • To develop and instruct fun, energetic and highly motivational classes for all ages and skill levels.
  • Implement safety measures for classes to insure the health and safety of class participants

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years’ experience teaching/coaching soccer required.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must have strong people skills and the ability to speak in front of others.
  • Must be able to demonstrate various skills in the area of instruction specified.
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English with the preferred ability to also communicate in Spanish.
  • Must be able to function effectively with minimal or no supervision.

Gym Attendant (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Gym Attendant will supervise the gym, service desk, locker rooms, hallways, participants, programs and activities and enforce necessary guidelines.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provide general supervision of the activity areas and participants
  • Maintain the cleanliness and operation of the gym equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience supervising, coaching, and working with children preferred.
  • Possess an understanding of the rules and fundamentals of indoor sports such as basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, badminton, floor hockey, indoor soccer and other programs offered in the gymnasium is preferred.
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English with the preferred ability to also communicate in Spanish.
  • Have CPR/AED/First Aid certification, or obtain within 45 days.
  • Be able to lift and carry 40lbs.
  • Must be able to be mobile for long periods of time.

Welcome Desk Lead (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Welcome Desk Lead is responsible for creating exceptional customer service experiences and for the safe and secure day-to-day operations of the RJKCCC. Responsibilities include selling and/or verifying memberships through POS system, providing information, answering all incoming calls, and answering questions about the facility, The Salvation Army and available Kroc Center programs.

HOURS:

Must be available to work between the hours of 5am-10pm, able to work weeknights, weekends and holidays as needed, hours of operation will vary.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provide great customer service to the community.
  • Perform Point of Sale (POS) transactions at the Front Desk.
  • Perform all café, membership and front desk duties.
  • Train and supervise Welcome Desk attendants along with the Welcome Desk Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED. Minimum of five years experience in working in customer service industries. Equivalent combinations of education and experience that, in the sole discretion of The Salvation Army, provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully in the position will be considered.
  • Prefer minimum of three years prior experience supervising and managing staff.
  • Must have excellent computer skills; with working experience of Microsoft Office products. Computer database application experience helpful. Ability to use new software programs with basic training.
  • The ability to read, write and communicate in English is required. The ability to also communicate in Spanish is a plus.
  • Be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.

Lifeguard I (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager, Lifeguards will monitor activities, observe and provide assistance to swimmers, prevent accidents, protect life and enforce regulations as well as control access to pools, family locker rooms, and lockers.  Provide first aid when necessary.  Assist with implementation of and teach swimming lessons and other aquatics programs.  Provide support for swim lessons, record keeping, lesson cards and lesson plans.  This position is also required to assist with general facility maintenance and cleaning duties as assigned.  Attendance at all in-service trainings required.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Considerately and patiently enforce RJKCCC rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors, and employees.  Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas and actions.  Maintain order in swimming areas.
  • Must be able to analyze situations and adopt a quick and effective course of action; maintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify any signs of danger.
  • Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning.
  • Provide first aid, rescue breathing and CPR when needed.
  • Inspect and maintain cleanliness of swimming pool areas, locker rooms, restrooms, trash cans, cleaning equipment, aquatic equipment storage areas, and other areas as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Ability to speak Spanish desired.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and split shifts.
  • Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and energetically with staff, clients, members and customers.  Ability to be self-motivated, work independently and in a team environment.  Must also have effective communication skills and engage positively with the public.
  • Must have one year experience as a lifeguard.
  • Must have one year experience teaching swim lessons.
  • Lifeguard training (must include Standard First Aid). American Red Cross certifications are required before start of employment.
  • American Red Cross CPR and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer.  AED certification highly desirable.
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification required, or ability to receive within six months.
  • American Red Cross Oxygen Administration certification highly desirable.

Server (as needed, part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:  

The server position is an as-needed, part-time position. Servers will aid with events by traying food, filling beverages, serving food and beverages, busing tables, set-up, tear-down cleanup and other similar tasks that may be needed for a successful event.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Assist with food and beverage presentation, food and beverage service, bussing, set-up, tear-down, minimal food preparation and other customer service needs.
  • Under the supervision of the Events Manager or the Kitchen Supervisor, servers interact with guests, vendors and suppliers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred experience in food service such as wait staff/server.
  • Ability to act quickly and accurately on verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Comfortable in public settings.
  • Good intuition regarding how much/little to interact with guests.
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English with the preferred ability to also communicate in Spanish.
  • Be able to lift and carry up to 40lbs.
