Aquatics Manager (full-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Aquatics Manager will provide oversight for the daily operations of the aquatic center.  Responsibilities include safety, operations, programming, equipment management, and staffing for the leisure pool, locker rooms, family changing rooms, associated mechanical spaces and other areas related to the aquatic center.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Manage daily operations of the aquatic center.
  • Recruit, train and supervise all aquatic center employees.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate aquatic center programming.
  • Oversee key safety components of the Kroc Center.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Management, Exercise science or other relevant field preferred.
  • 3 + years management experience in aquatic setting with progressive levels of responsibility in developing, planning, managing, and supervising aquatic facilities and programs; including developing and administering budgets, staff development, membership service, and community relations.
  • Professional certifications required include: American Red Cross Lifeguard, AED, CPRPR
  • Professional certifications preferred: American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), Water Safety Instructor (WSI). Aquatic Facility Operator or Certified Pool Operator certification, Certified Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (LGIT), Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT). Must be able to obtain an AFO or CPO certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English with the preferred ability to also communicate in Spanish.

 Child Watch Attendant (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Child Watch Attendant is responsible for the direct supervision of the children in Child Watch areas throughout the facility (Clubhouse, Hangout/Game room, Classrooms, Playground), with emphasis on safety and developmental activities that will ensure a quality experience during a child’s stay.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Responsible for the safety, supervision and active entertainment of all children placed in Child Watch areas while parents/guardians are participating in Kroc Center activities.
  • Will assist and work under the supervision of the Youth Development Supervisor.
  • Interact professionally with all contacts, as required, with the general public, parents/guardians, business community, Salvation Army Officers and Kroc Center staff.
  • Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have two years experience working with children and infants.
  • Computer knowledge helpful, but not necessary.
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English with the preferred ability to also communicate in Spanish.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Flexible availability (mornings, evenings, weekends and weekdays).

Day Camp Counselors – Seasonal Full Time (June 1–August 28)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Counselors are the primary adult supervisor for a group of children during the day camp day and assist in the implementation of the day camp program.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Give direct supervision to a group of children making the safety and well being of all campers while in our care a top priority. This involves staying with your group at all times unless another staff member has relieved you for any necessary reason.
  • Follow and facilitate all day camp objectives, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Encourage participation in any and all activities appropriate to those children in your assigned group. This includes activities such as music & drama classes, Bible class, recreation class, and arts & crafts.
  • Serve as a positive role model to young children by demonstrating high standards of personal conduct.
  • Administer emergency first aid as needed.
  • Respond to and report any forms of camper misconduct (bullying, inappropriate behavior, etc).
  • Plan and implement lessons, group devotions and other activities as directed by the Recreation Supervisor.
  • Work in a cooperative manner with the other day camp staff as well as other Kroc Center staff to execute daily plans and activities.
  • Follow and ensure adherence to day camp policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Desire to work with children ages 5–17.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years prior experience in working with children.
  • Willingness to work as part of a ministry team with other staff members
  • Must have or be able to obtain a chauffeur license.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Ability to speak Spanish desired.
  • Before hire, must pass a thorough background check.

 Swim Instructor (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager, Swim Instructors will assist with implementation of and teach swimming lessons and other aquatics programs. Provide support for swim lessons, record keeping, lesson cards and lesson plans. Attendance at all in-service trainings required.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Instruct swimming lessons of all ages and abilities by following a structured lesson plan.
  • Maintain attendance record-keeping for swim lessons and an organized filing system of records and lesson plans.
  • Perform setup, breakdown and maintenance of all lesson equipment.
  • Responsible to ensure customer satisfaction in regards to swim lessons and other aquatic programs.
  • Prepare written information relating to lessons, class registrations, incidents/accidents, and assists Pool Supervisor and Aquatics Manager as needed.
  • Maintain records and reports as assigned.
  • May work with any aspect of aquatic programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Ability to speak Spanish is desired.
  • Must have one year experience teaching swim lessons.
  • Certifications in the following preferred: Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, American Red Cross Oxygen Administration.
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification required.
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel preferred
  • Be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years’ experience teaching required.
  • Certification preferred.
  • Nationally-recognized snorkeling certification preferred.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must be able to demonstrate various skills in the area of instruction specified.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. The ability to speak Spanish desired. Must be able to function effectively with minimal or no supervision.

Senior Fitness Instructor (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Health and Wellness Manager, Senior Group Fitness Instructors will provide state-of-the-art group exercise instruction that contributes to each member’s health and fitness goals.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • To develop and instruct fun, energetic and highly motivational exercise classes for all fitness and skill levels.
  • Implement safety measure for group exercise classes to insure the health and safety of group exercise participants.
  • Insure that the ultimate goal of spiritual, emotional and physical regeneration of all people in represented and infused in all programs, trainings, customer relations, and levels of operation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Current certifications through ACE, ACSM, AFAA or NSCA or any unique certifications pertaining to a specialized group exercise class and/or format.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience teaching various or specific group exercise programs.
  • Current First Aid, CPR and AED preferred.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. The ability to speak Spanish desired.
  • Must have physical ability to instruct appropriate classes for specific class requirements as outlined by industry standards of certifications and or training.

 Gym Attendant (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Gym Attendant will supervise the gym, service desk, locker rooms, hallways, participants, programs and activities and enforce necessary guidelines.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provide general supervision of the activity areas and participants
  • Maintain the cleanliness and operation of the gym equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience supervising, coaching, and working with children preferred.
  • Possess an understanding of the rules and fundamentals of indoor sports such as basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, badminton, floor hockey, indoor soccer and other programs offered in the gymnasium is preferred.
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English with the preferred ability to also communicate in Spanish.
  • Have CPR/AED/First Aid certification, or obtain within 45 days.
  • Be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to be mobile for long periods of time.

Lifeguard I (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager, Lifeguards will monitor activities, observe and provide assistance to swimmers, prevent accidents, protect life and enforce regulations as well as control access to pools, family locker rooms, and lockers. Provide first aid when necessary. Assist with implementation of and teach swimming lessons and other aquatics programs. Provide support for swim lessons, record keeping, lesson cards and lesson plans. This position is also required to assist with general facility maintenance and cleaning duties as assigned. Attendance at all in-service trainings required.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Considerately and patiently enforce Kroc Center rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors, and employees. Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas and actions.  Maintain order in swimming areas.
  • Must be able to analyze situations and adopt a quick and effective course of action; maintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify any signs of danger.
  • Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning.
  • Provide first aid, rescue breathing and CPR when needed.
  • Inspect and maintain cleanliness of swimming pool areas, locker rooms, restrooms, trash cans, cleaning equipment, aquatic equipment storage areas, and other areas as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Ability to speak Spanish desired.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and split shifts.
  • Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and energetically with staff, clients, members and customers. Ability to be self-motivated, work independently and in a team environment. Must also have effective communication skills and engage positively with the public.
  • Must have one year experience as a lifeguard.
  • Must have one year experience teaching swim lessons.
  • Lifeguard training (must include Standard First Aid). American Red Cross certifications are required before start of employment.
  • American Red Cross CPR and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer.  AED certification highly desirable.
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification required, or ability to receive within six months.
  • American Red Cross Oxygen Administration certification highly desirable.

Server (as needed, part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:  

The server position is an as-needed, part-time position. Servers will aid with events by traying food, filling beverages, serving food and beverages, busing tables, set-up, tear-down cleanup and other similar tasks that may be needed for a successful event.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Assist with food and beverage presentation, food and beverage service, bussing, set-up, tear-down, minimal food preparation and other customer service needs.
  • Under the supervision of the Events Manager or the Kitchen Supervisor, servers interact with guests, vendors and suppliers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred experience in food service such as waitstaff/server.
  • Ability to act quickly and accurately on verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Comfortable in public settings.
  • Good intuition regarding how much/little to interact with guests.
  • Be able to read, write and communicate in English with the preferred ability to also communicate in Spanish.
  • Be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
